Make 2010 OURS

madiba-and-tutu R100 000 from 100 businesses in 100 days

With less than 100 days to go until the 2010 FIFA World Cup, the Green Point (GP) and Orange-Kloof (OK) City Improvement Districts (CIDs) are launching OUR 2010 Campaign to motivate businesses to invest in the sustainable development of our communities through football.

The GP and OK CIDs are working in collaboration with Craig Hepburn, founder of African Brothers Football Academy and former Bafana Bafana striker George Dearnaley to make OUR 2010 Campaign a reality.

Our mission is to look beyond the hype, excitement and immediate opportunities surrounding the World Cup tournament and launch a community orientated project that will benefit ordinary South Africans in the long run.

How it works

30 underprivileged children have been selected from within the OK and GP CID districts to form two football teams. Money raised during the campaign will be used to pay the monthly R200-00 African Brothers Football Academy membership fees for each child; giving them the opportunity to play football in a safe environment, develop their skills under the guidance of experienced coaches and interact with other children from different cultures and backgrounds.

To kick off the campaign, the GP and OK CIDs have donated R6 000 to cover the membership fees for both teams for one month. Donations from businesses within the OK and GP CID districts will be used to sustain these teams going forward (the target of R100 000 in 100 days will support both teams for two and a half years). This will be a significant contribution to African Brothers Football Academy’s vision to unite, bridge cultural divides and uplift our communities.

DONATE

We welcome all businesses in the OK and GP CID districts to make a donation no matter how big or small to help us reach OUR 2010 Campaign target of R100 000 in 100 days.
